Orbital Vibration Welding

A plastic welding procedure for the future
Orbital vibration welding can join and weld difficult materials. It is well suited for thermoplastics with a high filler content.
Orbital vibration welding allows a constant friction velocity on the total weld surface. The minimal amplitude allows for a high degree of constructive freedom when designing the parts. The extremely low weld vibration is a special advantage for instance for sensitive electronics.

Our systems are compact welding units that can process parts that are up to 250 mm long. Electromagnets and permanent magnets arranged in a star pattern together with the round springs make up the contact-free operating vibration head drive, which therefore has very little wear.
Among the types of friction-welding only the orbital method is capable of creating the necessary plastification energy in the seam zone within a period suitable for the material with the minimal amplitude of 0.25 mm.

State-of-the-art electronics and software ensure a drive frequency tuning necessary for a smooth and reproducible operation and the consistency of the amplitude. The same is valid for the control system of the lift table drive, because the vertical pressure needs to be individually adjustable for the friction, weld, and dwell phases in order to attain the optimal seam strength.
