The Automobile - also made of (joined) Plastics
The automobile especially is in the domain of plastics joining. Components can be found in the engine compartment, on the dashboard, in the passenger compartment, as well as the chassis and elsewhere.
The percentage of synthetic materials used in modern automobiles has already exceeded 20%.
Among the benefits are improved passive safety, less weight and therefore lower fuel consumption, corrosion prevention. These objectives will always have high priority in the automotive industry; hence plastics joining will also have its place in the future.

Welded plastic are located in automobiles „under the hood“ (eg. cylinder head cover, small tanks, air intake manifold, heat exchanger or air filter), in the dashboard (e.g. defroster nozzles, instrument panel, glove box lid, air channels or loudspeaker), in the automobile interior (e.g. door panel, head rest, seat fabric, center consol, sunriser, interior mirror or switches) and as body components (e.g. fuel tank, trunk lid, tail light, hub tap, bumper, front grill).
