IKV Aachen Welding of plastics at the IKV
For over 40 years, the IKV has addressed the welding of plastics mainly within the scope of public research projects, and also cooperative industrial research. The key focus of research at present is on ultrasonic welding, laser beam welding and hot plate welding.
Investigations at the IKV encompass both material- and process-specific issues aimed at an extended level of knowledge for industrial application.
Besides use of these welding processes for components of normal dimensions, the IKV is investigating welding processes for their suitability for microtechnology.
The IKV is contact partner for almost all issues that may crop up, and not only in the welding of plastics. In the process, the comprehensive equipment with diverse analysis and testing procedures for plastics at the IKV can also be used for practical and theoretic investigations.
